after much debate and following the weather, we’ve decided
to stick with our original plan to take the ferry from japan to
so we took the shinkansen for 3 hours, and now we are in
hakata for the night, doing a bit of laundry, & waiting for our boat to
take off at noon tomorrow. we’re also hanging out in the lobby of our very
shady hotel, avoiding going upstairs to our dank twin room…time to break out
those sleep sheets of ours… dp killed a roach as soon as we turned on the
lights! (needless to say we’ve left the lights on up there)…sigh…i suspect
japan has given us a very gentle introduction to backpacking thus far…
Oh yes -- and it's only just begun! To clense yourself from the japanese roaches, check out a bath house in korea and get a full-body scrub and tea soak. You'll be glowing again and ready for the next adventure!

Wow! Well, you both look great. The pics are outstanding. Your stories...you two are funny!!! Yeah, we're enjoying seeing these places from your vantage point. We'll keep tracking and you two BEWARE of odoriferous roommates and ravenous beasties. Safe travel and XOXO from The Mayanator.

On my walk from the subway station in downtown LA I pass the offices of Korean Air. I think of you both . . . and I miss you so much. Yet I am also happy to travel with you vicariously. Love, Dad
